Does Crystal and Gemstone Healing Work?

Does crystal and gemstone healing work? This is an interesting question because people have used crystals and gemstones for centuries to heal multiple ailments. Crystal and Gemstone healing remain popular today, with many people claiming that it works and has worked for them.

I have used crystals and worn gemstone healing jewellery for many years. I like them. They are pretty. They work for me and I will continue to use them.

However, the question remains;

Does crystal and gemstone healing work?

The short and honest answer is yes and no. If you believe it will work, then yes, it will most probably work for you. But if you do not believe it will work, and that it is all a lot of hocus pocus then you will receive no benefit from using it.

How is crystal healing supposed to work?

Well, because crystals are created and formed by the natural energies of the earth. Many people believe that they each transmit a different healing vibration and energy. When they are worn or held near us, they allow positive, healing energy to flow into our bodies as negative, disease-causing energy flows out.

Crystal Facts

Do crystals actually vibrate?

Yes, all things in our universe are constantly in motion and vibrating. Objects that appear to be stationary are in fact vibrating, oscillating and resonating at various different frequencies. All objects have a natural frequency or set of frequencies at which they vibrate including crystals.

What are crystals made from?

Crystals are made from minerals. The most common crystals are up of the mineral quartz which are composed of silicon dioxide SiO2. Quartz, or silicon dioxide, is transparent when pure, but trace impurities permeate it with varying degrees of colour and translucency. Amethyst, Aventurine, Tigers Eye, and Rose Quartz are made up with this composition but appear in different colours.

Turquoise is made from the mineral that is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium. It has the chemical formula CuAl6(PO4)4(OH) 4H2O. It Is formed by a chemical reaction that occurs when water containing specific minerals such as copper and aluminium leak through a rock. It forms in veins, which later then turn into a clump of turquoise.

Most crystals were formed in a process that took millions of years when the liquid rock inside the earth cooled and hardened. Other types of crystals, such as salt, ice and dry ice, don’t take as long to form.

Science

Is there any scientific evidence that crystal healing works?

No there isn’t any scientific evidence to support that crystal healing works and studies show that crystals and gems cannot be differentiated by chemical composition or colour to treat any particular ailment.

However, there is a study that suggests that crystal healing may induce a placebo effect in a patient who receives this type of treatment.

What is a placebo effect?

A placebo effect is a beneficial effect that accompanies a treatment but is not directly due to the treatment itself. A placebo is a medicine or procedure used for our psychological benefit  rather than for any physiological effect.

Therefore, any beneficial effects or healing cannot be attributed to the properties of the placebo itself. Which means that they must be due to our belief in the treatment.

The placebo effect can be very powerful because if we believe that a treatment or therapy will work for us and make us feel better, then most of us will feel better after the treatment.

A place in healing?

Could crystal and gemstone healing have a place in healing and wellbeing?

Well, we all know that our thoughts affect our emotions and along with that, the feelings in our body. When we become stressed or anxious, we can feel it manifest immediately in the form of palpitations or a sinking feeling in our stomach.

When we positively focus, we create feelings of calm and wellbeing in the body.

Focusing positively on a crystal and believing in its healing properties creates positive emotions.

Our positive emotions create positive physical symptoms in our bodies. This helps us feel better and feeling better is key to overall health and wellbeing.
